Market Management Team Members – Halifax Brewery Market

RESPONSIBILITIES CAN INCLUDE
Marketing & Promotions, Internal and External Communications
Leadership & Coordination
Business Administration & Bdugeting
Site & Facilities Management
Represent the market in meetings with external stakeholders, building positive community relations.
Work with government agencies to ensure vendor compliance including requirements regarding food safety
Cooperative Administration & Development
Actively seek out new funding opportunities
Cross-train in the weekly market management position

POSITION DETAILS
This posting is for multiple flexible paid, part-time and/or full-time positions requiring a commitment of 20 – 40 hours weekly at a rate of 20$/hourly. Work hours and location are flexible outside of market hours. Occasional availability on Market Days (Saturdays) is required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in fast-paced event coordination, administration, communication & marketing, self-directed time management, project coordination, grant writing.
Passion for locally produced food, involvement in local food politics, regular participation in a Farmers Market community.
Enthusiasm for and understanding of the not-for-profit and cooperative sectors. Sympathetic to the historic buildings and Nova Scotia’s Farmers Market community.
Current Safe Food Handlers Certificate (or willingness to participate in Safe Food Handlers Course).
Some positions are being funded through the YESS Agricultural Internship Program to hire an intern with the Cooperative. Candidates should indicate if they meet the requirements of the grant program:

30 years or younger when you started the internship
unemployed or underemployed, a student, or a previous intern of any Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) program
a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
a Youth facing barriers including:
living with a disability
being Indigenous
living in a low income household
being a single parent
residing in a remote location
living with family care responsibilities
coming out of, or have involvement with the justice system
Additional funding is available for relocation costs and any costs to offset the employee’s identified barriers (critical transportation, assistance with dependents, accommodation needs, accessibility equipment/technology).
