Overview
Reporting to the Director, Parks and Recreation, and managing 100+ full time staff, the Manager, Parks will deliver safe and efficient operations and maintenance services for 836 parks, 324 sports fields, 314 sport courts, 379 playgrounds, 7 cemeteries, 2 greenhouses (with over 100,000 annuals/year), and several green spaces, pools and splash pads in a large and diverse geographic area with many unique communities. The Manager, Parks will work with event organizers to coordinate 150+ special events annually, and will provide dynamic and energetic team leadership, mentorship, inspiration, creativity and commitment to deliver a high level of service to residents and clients, ensuring that their needs are consistently achieved, or exceeded.

Qualifications/Preferred Background

We are seeking candidates with several years experience in parks and/or recreation management with at least five (5) years in a senior leadership role and the ability to manage 100+ unionized staff, a $13 Million operating budget, $5 Million capital budget and $1 Million in annual revenues. Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as parks management, recreation and/or business administration, experience in project/construction management and a track record of performance – setting goals and delivering to high standards for a large municipality or private sector organization.
