Job Description:
Position Summary:
This position works with the Agricultural Service Board and reports to the Manager of Protective Services. The Manager of Rural Development is responsible for implementing and coordinating municipal programs as they relate to the agricultural activities in Saddle Hills County.
Qualifications:
A Degree or diploma in Agriculture or other related field is preferred.
Certified Pesticide Applicator’s License, Designation Ag, Industrial and Landscape for Alberta.
Minimum of three to five years of related experience in agricultural based positions, preferably in a municipal setting. Combination of experience and education may be considered.
Understanding of budget development and financial management.
A good understanding of tendering and contract management processes.
A solid background in computer applications including a high level of Proficiency with MS Office applications.
Excellent Mechanical Aptitude and a general understanding of spray equipment systems.
Three to Five years of supervisory experience, managing staff and contracted services.
Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy, tact and discretion.
Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
Ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects.
Ability to prioritize workloads and effectively monitor, motivate and coach staff.
Satisfactory Criminal record check including vulnerable sector clearance.
Valid class 5 drivers license (must provide an acceptable 5 year drivers abstract).
Ability to ensure all work-related information is kept confidential and in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Have or the ability to obtain membership in the Alberta Institute of Agrology with appropriate P.Ag or RTAg. Designations.
