General overview:
Beaverlodge is a thriving, growing community located just 40 km northwest of Grande Prairie, Alberta. Position summary:
The Public Works Manager is responsible to provide leadership and direction to the staff and to effectively and efficiently manage the development and direction of the operational team. She/he is responsible for the efficient and effective customer service provided through operation of the public works, utilities, parks and facility maintenance programs. The Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all functions including the maintenance of streets, lanes, parks and green spaces, maintenance and operation of all water and sewer facilities, maintenance of all town buildings or facilities, management of capital projects and operation of the arena.
Duties:
Provide reports, information and effective strategic advice to the Chief Administrative Officer and Town Council.
Supervise and direct contractors, consultants, and staff in Roads, Facilities and Water & Waste Water operations.
Maintain public works shop and oversee equipment maintenance and purchasing.
Prepare and manage Operating & Capital Budgets.
Respond to public inquires and complaints regarding public work issues.
Complete and oversee all road infrastructure grant applicants and reporting responsibilities.
Remain compliant with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and the safe work practices and procedures of the Town of Beaverlodge.
Willingness to learn and undertake training.
Responsible for the planning, organizing and directing all civil public works functions including the maintenance of streets and lanes, water and sewer facilities and related facilities.
Qualifications:
2 years technical school training in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent in years of experience. E.T. or R.E.T status preferred but not necessary.
Superior Customer Service/Communication Skills with the ability to build strong relationships with the public, council and staff.
The ability to stay current with engineering practice and technology specific to road building and maintenance.
Motivation combined with practical and hands on experience.
Utilize your leadership skills to coach, mentor and motivate staff.
Commitment to performing work carefully, effectively, safely and with attention to detail.
Certification in Water & Waste Water applications is desirable.
Familiarity in operating and maintenance of light and heavy duty equipment.
Class 3 Operators License or ability to obtain.
First Aid/CPR Level C or ability to obtain.
Working practical experience/knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Salary: $79,075.94 – $92,422.74 (under review)
