The District of Mission is looking for a progressive and innovative leader to head its Planning Division. Reporting to the Director of Development Services, the Manager of Planning directs comprehensive land use planning including subdivision, official community plan, zoning and policy reviews and is accountable for the preparation of related reports for consideration and approval by the Chief Administrative Officer, committees and elected officials.
The Manager is responsible for negotiating parkland acquisitions, liaising with BC Transit for route planning, and collaborating with building and business licensing as well as by-law enforcement on related planning issues. The position provides departmental leadership, direction, supervision and the development of planning department staff to ensure the provision of professional community planning services for the District. This position is appointed the Approving Officer for the District of Mission.
We are looking for an individual who is results-oriented, who has a positive outlook and a clear focus on customer service with high quality outputs. You have a record of creativity and are able to exercise considerable independence in the decision making process.
The preferred candidate will be a member in good standing with the Planning Institute of British Columbia and the Canadian Institute of Planners along with 5 years of municipal planning experience combined with post-secondary education in community planning, business or public administration, or a related field. Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills and knowledge of the Community Charter, local government bylaws and procedures related to planning are keys to your success.
This excluded position offers a wage rate commensurate with your qualifications and experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package including pension and a 9-day fortnight work schedule.
