The District of Mission is looking for a progressive and innovative manager to look after its Parks & Facilities. Reporting to the Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture, the Manager of Parks and Facilities is responsible for the complete program of preventative maintenance and asset management of the buildings, parks and related amenities falling under the jurisdiction of the Department. The Manager will direct the efficient operation and maintenance of the indoor pools, twin-pad arena, Mission Activity Centre and the Mission Sports Park and Hatzic Cemetery. The Manager will also oversee Fraser River Heritage Park as well as Mission parks, playgrounds, sports fields, the community trail system and other District managed open space areas. The Manager will be responsible for the preparation and execution of capital projects including the development of specifications, project management and post project follow-up.
The Manager will use his or her exceptional motivational, team-building and people management skills to provide leadership, direction and supervision to staff working in Parks & Facilities. The Manager must have good technical skills and a working understanding of the operations of recreational building systems. The preferred candidate must also have excellent communications skills, the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and user groups and to ensure the cost effective delivery of parks and recreational services for the residents of Mission.
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of five-six years of related experience at a management and/or supervisory level to supplement his or her post-secondary education in parks management, facility management or other related discipline. Preference will be given to applicants who have worked in municipal government.
This excluded position offers a wage rate commensurate with your qualifications and experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package including pension and a 9-day fortnight work schedule.
