Job Description:
Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of data input into the Town’s financial information systems. Provide daily supervision of the Corporate Services department’s accounting systems, including reception, accounts payables and receivables, payroll, tax roll, utilities and assessment. Maintains current, accurate balances for the general ledger and sub-ledgers, prepares monthly financial statements and analysis of accounts, ensure the processing of tax notifications, tax certificates and tax roll records. Respond to ratepayer inquiries, providing assistance and information as required. Tracking and maintaining tangible capital assets as per Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) recommendations. Ensures the preparation of property tax assessments and reconciliations required by Auditors in conjunction with the Director of Corporate Services. Primary role relative to Human Resource functions for the Municipality.
Requirements and Qualifications:
You will have completed minimum of Grade 12, a recognized accounting designation or equivalent is desirable; example: CMA, CGA. Three to five (3-5) years of progressively hands-on accounting experience preferably in a municipal environment including effective, strong financial administration and management skills. High degree of competency in using computers in the technical areas of financial accounting software, spreadsheets and databases. Solid planning, organizing and problem-solving skills. Effective management, team building, leadership and supervisory strengths. Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer services. Familiarity with Municipal Government Act, other
provincial statutes and GAAP.
