RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for planning, coordination and management of capital projects including new construction, additions, renovations and electrical/mechanical system enhancements for all board facilities. Responsible for capital expenditure projections with accountability for recommendations to capital planning and projects. Responsible for oversight of energy and environmental matters and compliance with relevant legislation. Provide supervision of staff including training, evaluation, scheduling and inspection. Provide written reports and correspondence to the supervisor as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will possess a University Degree in Engineering with professional certification in the province of Ontario ie Professional Engineer; over six years of related experience in progressively responsible positions related to capital planning and management of construction projects, preferably in the public sector; experience with municipal approvals process, consultant/construction contracts, tendering procedures and contract administration within the Broader Public Sector; demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulations and codes; thorough working knowledge of maintenance processes; proven ability in working as a member of a team and interpersonal skills to build positive working relationships; proven commitment to confidentiality; strong computer skills and highly effective organization, communication, leadership, time management and strong project management skills required.
VEHICLE:
A valid driving license and access to a motor vehicle for travelling to various schools within the Board’s jurisdiction are requirements of the position.
