Crombie REIT is currently recruiting for the position of Manager, Occupational Health & Safety. This role can be based out of our Halifax or New Glasgow, NS office.

The Manager, Occupational Health & Safety is responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of all Crombie OH&S programs. Working closely with regional operations groups, the Manager OH&S will contribute to a positive and productive working environment through leading comprehensive programs for all aspects of Occupational Health and Safety across the company.
Responsibilities:
Facilitate/lead the development and implementation of Occupational Health and Safety prevention programs with a view to national consistency, provincial regulatory compliance, and best practices (where appropriate).
Participate in the development and execution of the Occupational Health and Safety strategic plan based on regional compliance and consistency.
Participate and, where appropriate, lead the design, development, and enhancement of end-user training for all aspects of Occupational Health and Safety.
Provide support to property and regional leadership that will lead the Occupational Health and Safety program efforts for all Crombie employees.
Act on behalf of Crombie to resolve compliance related issues with provincial health and safety authorities and insurance boards.
Act as a coordinator of Emergency Measures Plans, Business Continuity Plans and Recuperation Plans, and manages critical activities during catastrophic events.
Collaborate with regional leadership and Human Resources to support and monitor Occupational Health and Safety program compliances as ongoing effectiveness and efficiency.
Provide technical counsel to management and employees on a full spectrum of workplace health and safety issues (i.e. return to work, claims management, accident investigation and H&S audits).
Support the alignment of methodologies with established and planned metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Support the review and refinement of initiatives to address evolving business and Occupational Health and Safety program needs based on changing regulatory requirements.
Assess program and training impacts as they relate to business results and Occupational Health and Safety performance metrics and the effect on enhancement of the Occupational Health and Safety culture.
Support the development and implementation of best practice workers compensation claim, remain/return to work and disability management programs.
Keep abreast of proposed health and safety, legislative and policy changes and emerging issues.
Required Skills & Experience:
Post-secondary education in a field directly related to Occupational Health and Safety. Certifications in various aspects of health and safety considered an asset.
Experience in Occupational Health and Safety, with a focus on training and development, and a career progression showing increasing scope and responsibility.
In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety principles and practices as well as training and instructional design methodology.
Experience in using instructional technologies to increase the accessibility and reduce training expense.
Experience working with technology solutions to support prevention program, incident, workers’ compensation claims, and return to work processes.
Extensive front-line experience in the development, deployment, and maintenance of workers’ compensation, remain/return to work, and disability management programs.
Proven background in the development and facilitation of programs for job specific and hazard specific control.
Proven background in the development and facilitation of course curriculum and content for technical skill (systems) and role-based applications.
