The Position:

The Manager of the Life Work Centre is a full-time permanent position reporting to the Director of the Life Work Centre. This is a unique role that requires a hardworking, innovative individual who is committed to leading positive change for persons with varying abilities. The Manager of the Life Work Centre will strive to provide opportunities and choices for residents of Breton Ability Centre and individuals we serve from the community through the provision of quality programs and services. The main responsibilities of the position will be the day to day operations of the Life Work Centre and supervision and development of staff at the Centre. The day to day operations incorporates social enterprise activities, learning and educational opportunities for residents, safety at the Centre and staff supervision and development. The Manager of the Life Work Centre will work in collaboration with the team at the LWC, throughout BAC and the community. The manager will also take the lead with the team to develop, implement and evaluate goals for the LWC that are aligned with the strategic directions of the organization.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. A Master’s degree in a relevant field would be considered an asset;
3-5 years Management experience with direct reports. Management experience in a unionized environment would be considered an asset;
Change management skills and the ability to multitask and manage ongoing projects;
Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills (verbal, written, computer);
Self-directed and able to take initiative to address issues and concerns as they arise;
Excellent customer service and attention to detail aptitude;
Ability to  lead a team and actively contribute to multi-disciplinary teams throughout the organization;
Experience in supporting persons with varying abilities (intellectual, mental health, physical) and with complex needs;
Committed to the development of individuals with varying abilities and possess skills which promote a teaching learning model, fostering independence for each person;
Must have an excellent work and attendance record;
Clear criminal record check and valid driver’s license.
