Manager, Environment Services (Competition #23-41)
Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Manager, Environment Services. Reporting to the Director, Agricultural Services, the Manager, Environment Services is responsible for leading the County’s Environment Services Unit including budgeting, operations, project planning and implementation, staff management and policy development. This position is responsible for the County’s Environmental Regulatory Compliance, ALUS, Hazardous Trees, Landscape Services, Hay and Grazing Permits, Environmental and Sustainability Programs and Plans. The Manager, Environment Services also undertakes initiatives that support the advancement of Council’s Strategic Plan and is responsible for overseeing activities related to regional sustainability planning. This position is also responsible for updating and coordinating the implementation of the County’s Integrated Community Sustainability Plan.

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
Bachelor’s Degree in an Environmental Science/Sustainability or related discipline. A master’s degree would be considered an asset.
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience directly related to working in an environmental sustainability setting with focus on supervision or management of staff with varying levels of expertise.
Exceptional working knowledge of environment sustainability planning and policy development; the province of Alberta’s Land Use Framework; the province of Alberta’s Land Stewardship Act; as well as provincial and federal environment policies, programs and regulations.
Strong relationship building skills and ability to communicate respectfully with people in various government departments, agencies, residents and stakeholder groups.
Effective oral and written communication skills, report writing and presentation skills.
Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.

The total rewards package for this position includes:

A starting annual salary of $97,585 – $121,982 based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
