Communities within the regional district include the municipalities of Nanaimo, Lantzville, Parksville and Qualicum Beach, as well as seven unincorporated Electoral Areas for a total population of more than 155,000 people. The RDN is governed by a 17-member Board comprised of ten directors from the member municipalities and seven directors elected by Electoral Area residents.
The RDN is seeking a Manager, Emergency Services to join our team. Reporting to the General Manager, Transportation and Emergency Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for emergency planning and preparedness and for overseeing the administration of regional fire protection.
Required qualifications include a degree in emergency management, public administration, business administration or related field as well as familiarity and experience with emergency programs, plus six years of related experience in a local or regional government setting, including three years in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
