Maintenance Person 1 – North Vancouver District Public Library

North Vancouver District Public Library is a community-focused Library serving almost 90,000 residents in the District of North Vancouver at three NVDPL locations. The North Vancouver District Public Library is currently looking for an auxiliary Maintenance Person 1. You will be responsible for performing cleaning, maintenance, minor repair, and security tasks for the Branch facility. Some of the tasks expected of this position include: dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, waxing and polishing of floors, removing dirt/stains from carpets and furniture, emptying waste containers, cleaning washrooms, plumbing and minor building repairs, delivering library books and materials between branches including driving the library van, etc. Your knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in janitorial work as well as your ability to independently carry out routine building maintenance and repair tasks will ensure your success in this position.

The hourly pay rate for this unionized position starts at $21.87 (2015 rate) based on a 37.5 hour workweek, plus 12% in lieu of benefits. Hours of work may vary between 7:00am – 11:00pm and weekly work schedules may include Saturdays. The successful candidate would have completed Grade 12, have a WHMIS certificate from WCB, and be in possession of a valid BC drivers’ license. BOMA Building Maintenance certification is desirable.
