This position
is restricted to youth between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age on the first day of employment
You must be a resident of Ontario
You must be eligible to work in Canada
Responsibilities:
Maintain and enhance the various gardens at the centre, including weeding, pruning, re-planting, mowing and trimming
Develop and supply re-design plans, where applicable, with a view to retaining the unique nature of the centre’s native species gardens
Other general maintenance duties at the site, as assigned
Qualifications:
Applicants must have excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills
Preference will be given to applicants with proven experience in landscaping or horticulture and plant identification and care
The successful applicant must be able to adapt to an environment of change and work well independently as well as in a team environment
Applicants should have certification in safe equipment operation and maintenance
Applicants must be capable of physically demanding labour and highly aware of safety procedures
Applicants must be willing to work in all weather conditions
A current Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required
A valid Province of Ontario driver’s license is required, and GRCA will obtain a 3-year uncertified driver’s abstract of the successful candidate upon hiring
