INTERMEDIATE-SENIOR ECOLOGIST – North-South Environmental Inc. – Campbelville

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Manage a variety of projects commensurate with experience including interaction with clients, scheduling of field work and meetings, budgeting, agency liaison, meeting deadlines for deliverables, etc. For example, these projects may include:
Environmental Impact Studies/Assessments
Management plans
Natural heritage system planning & policy support
Peer reviews
Environmental inspections
Species at Risk screening reports
Monitoring programs
Supporting and assisting other project managers on an as-needed basis and consistent with the overall objective of NSE collectively providing the best service to clients
Implement field programs, for example: breeding bird surveys, reptile surveys, amphibian breeding surveys, vegetation surveys, tree inventories, ELC surveys, wetland evaluations (OWES), bat surveys
Deliver high quality reports and other project deliverables on time and within budget
Undertake marketing initiatives and generate new work including recruiting clients, developing new projects and preparing proposals
Contribute to company initiatives and development
Contribute to the general running of the office

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Studies or similar field
Minimum eight (8) years of relevant experience preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated problem-solving skills
Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy documents and acceptable field survey protocols
Sound knowledge of Ontario species and habitats
Proven project management experience in an ecological field
Candidates must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, time management skills, and be fluent in use of standard Microsoft Office software

The successful candidate will be expected to be comfortable working within a small office (8-10 people), working as part of interdisciplinary teams with external team members (e.g., project partners and sub-consultants) completing higher-level analyses, problem solving, and analysis of contributing disciplines, within the context of ecological work.
