Human Resources Manager
Applications are being sought for the position of Human Resources Manager in School District No. 83 (North-Okanagan-Shuswap).  The start date for the position is negotiable depending on the availability of the successful applicant, but is anticipated that the appointment would begin early March.
 
The District:
The North Okanagan-Shuswap School District is a widely dispersed district that includes the four major communities of Salmon Arm, Armstrong, Enderby, and Sicamous.  The district provides education for more than 5,800 K-12 students in twenty-two schools with an operation budget of approximately $69 million.  The North Okanagan-Shuswap School District is committed to enhancing a positive work environment for staff and a dynamic and supportive educational experience for students.
 
Job Summary
Working as an integral member of the District Human Resources team, this position takes a leadership role in the delivery of a wide range of professional HR services that include internal staffing, external recruitment, investigations, Collective Agreement interpretation and administration, supervision of staff, grievance handling and job evaluation.  This position includes supervision of one employee.

Management of external recruiting for Teaching Staff
Disability Management
Collective Agreement Administration
Supervises the clerical staff in the Human Resources Department (1-2) positions
Conducts investigations into employee misconduct or workplace conflict situations and makes recommendations for action

The Person:
The preferred candidate will have:

A business administration certificate with a focus on human resources management or university degree;
A minimum of five years’ administrative experience including five years in human resources administration in a unionized environment;
Knowledge of computerized human resource systems and proficiency in a Windows environment including Microsoft software;
Demonstrated experience in current interview and candidate selection methods;
Proven ability to plan and follow up on projects;
Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships and maintain confidentiality;
CHRP certification or eligibility for certification is highly desirable;
Experience in the public sector environment is an asset.
