Human Resources Manager – City of Dawson Creek

The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for the newly created position of Human Resources Manager, starting as soon as possible. This full time permanent position will be of interest to individuals who wish to join a busy team in a bustling community located in resource rich Northeastern BC.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Human Resources Manager will be responsible for the overall administration of the human resources and labour relations functions of the City including, but not limited to: collective agreement administration, maintenance of personnel records, organizational personnel policies, recruitment, employee orientation, performance management, training and development, grievance administration and other personnel related matters.

Preferred candidates will have a Diploma or University Degree in Human Resource Management or Business Administration with a Major in Human Resources, two or more years’ experience in a progressively more responsible Human Resource generalist role, preferably in a unionized environment, demonstrable knowledge of labour legislation, federal and provincial laws and regulations, union contracts, personnel policies and collective agreement negotiations, considerable knowledge of personnel administration functions, policies, practices and objectives, working knowledge of the BC Municipal Pension Plan, employee benefits and Worksafe BC regulations, demonstrated commitment to working as a team and providing excellent customer service, membership, or eligibility for membership, in a Human Resource Management Association and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence. Certified Human Resource Professional designation is also an asset.
