HSE Officer – Western Petroleum – St. John’s, Grand Falls-Windsor

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Overall Responsibility:

The HSE Officer is responsible for the administration and implementation of WP’s Health, Safety & Environmental Risk Control Programs & Policies.  WP is currently in progress for Cor Certification thus the incumbent will be familiar with the Cor Program and be responsible for the ensuring WP achieves & maintains this certificate.  Works with Regional Site Supervisors to coordinate required safety training & conducts audits of Safety & Environmental Programs to ensure compliance.

Qualifications & Key Competencies:

Completion of a formal Health & Safety Program or Equivalent Experience;
Two or three years work experience in Health & Safety, preferably in a petroleum related industry;
Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or other Health & Safety Professional Designation considered an asset;
Certified First Aid, Fall Protection, Confined Space, OHS Committee / WHS Representative/ Designate, TG & WHMISS Instructor considered an asset;
Valid Drivers License & the ability to travel & work independently;
Strong written & oral communication skills;
Strong knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
