Grounds / Roads Superintendent – City of Trail

The City of Trail, known as BC’s Number One Sports Town and a two-time National Communities in Bloom Winner, is situated on the Columbia River in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia. The City of Trail is currently recruiting for the permanent supervisory exempt position of Grounds/Roads Superintendent.

This senior supervisory position reports to the City’s Director of Public Works and is a key member of the Management Team. The incumbent is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of cemetery operations, roads, parks and facility maintenance. The incumbent oversees the areas as noted and provides advice in the preparation and management of a comprehensive capital and maintenance budget, ensuring that services are delivered in an effective manner and consistent with the City’s organizational objectives.

Desirable qualifications include a post-secondary education from an Institute of Technology in the discipline of Civil Engineering Technology (Municipal option preferred) and be registered, or eligible for registration, as an AScT (or equivalent) with the ASTTBC. Certification in turf management experience and/or sports field maintenance accompanied with a proven ability to lead in operation and maintenance activities are required. The successful candidate will be a team player, able to demonstrate progressive experience in a supervisory capacity, and will have excellent communication skills.
