Grasslands Program Manager – Forests Ontario – Ontario

RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to Forests Ontario’s Director of Restoration Programs, the Grasslands Program Manager:
Provides leadership and oversees the development, management, and coordination of the Grassland Stewardship Initiative;
Manages internal and extension staff, contractors, and summer students to implement the grassland restoration program throughout Ontario;
Develops, manages, and coordinates all aspects of program budgets, partner payments, and other program accounting tasks;
Develops and manages partner agreements as well as government, sponsorship, and other grant contract/agreements;
Builds new partnership and engage with a large network of restoration partners, technical experts, landowners and program participants, funding partners, and government agencies; provides a high degree of customer service;
Manages the collection, coordination, and management of program and partner data utilizing online data reporting systems, Sales Force, and various other sources;
Analyzes data patterns to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for program and project growth and capacity building opportunities:
Identifies target areas of greatest capacity to fulfill the objectives of the GSI
Manage the recruitment, onboarding, and mentorship of new Delivery Partners participating in GSI
Lead in identifying target/focus areas for potential grassland restoration opportunities
Lead in growing Grasslands Ontario’s network of partners (contractors, seed collectors, nurseries, restoration organizations, etc.)
Assist with the development and delivery of capacity building events and workshops
Assists the Director of Business Development with partnerships, grant writing, and reporting to assist the organization secure appropriate short-term and long-term funding from governments, foundations, and corporations;
Assists the Director of Marketing and Communications with the development of program outreach material for various audiences (landowners, supporters, partners, government agencies, stakeholders, funders, etc.); directs program communication efforts and manages program communications budgets;
Manages program outreach, engagement, and technical events (virtual and in person) for various audiences (landowners, partners, funders, general public, etc.);
Engage and assist with onboarding landowners interested in participating in GrasslandsOntario’s Grassland Stewardship Initiative (GSI):
Respond to landowner inquiries, and refer landowners to local Delivery Partners
Provide technical advice to Delivery Partners and landowners in regards to planning and implementation of GSI projects
Connecting interested landowners with restoration professionals in their region and coordinating a network of grasslands professionals and experts throughout Ontario;
Participates in committees and/or manages various working groups;
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate must have:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant management experience, preferably experience in the non- profit and/or grassland habitat restoration sector
Field experience in grassland habitat restoration
Familiarity with agricultural Best Management Practices
Experience in the management and coordination of program budgets including budget development, invoicing, payment tracking and coordination, reporting to stakeholders and funding sources, and preparing for audits
A relevant degree or diploma (Restoration/Environmental Science) with experience working in the non-profit and/or restoration sector
Experience working with and providing customer service to a wide range of individuals and organizations including landowners and members of the public, partners and partner organizations, funding sources, and/or government agencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent leadership, judgment, and decision-making abilities, including strong presentation, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and to a deadline
An understanding of the environment, habitat restoration, resource management, and a demonstrated commitment to a healthy environment is a definite asset
WORK LOCATION: Main office is 15 Maple Avenue, Unit 103 Barrie, Ontario. However, arrangements for working from home may be available.
JOB TYPE & DURATION: Full-time, permanent position
WORK HOURS: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
SALARY: Based on years of relevant experience and qualifications.
