GHG Analyst / Office Manager (Maternity Cover) – Ecometrica – Montréal, Quebec

Ecometrica’s Montreal office has a one-year temporary maternity leave cover position available for a greenhouse gas (GHG) analyst / Office Manager who is interested in contributing to helping organizations measure their impacts on climate change.

Ecometrica is a company with offices in Montréal, London and Edinburgh, that brings together a team of experienced carbon and sustainability consultants and a team of developers to deliver innovative software solutions for the measurement of ecosystem metrics to an international clientele of companies, NGOs and governments.

You will be working with a small bilingual team of smart, young, like-minded scientific analysts and software developers in an open-area office in the Mile End.

Tasks:

The position is two-fold: as required, roughly 10 to 25% of your responsibilities will involve administrative and marketing support tasks, and the remainder will involve providing GHG assessment services and helping with GHG database management.

GHG analyst tasks will include:

Conducting greenhouse gas assessments, including GHG calculations, emissions estimation modeling, and quality assurance review of client data.
Liaising with our clients and partners, including consulting on the selection of assessment boundaries, answering technical and project management queries, and providing assessment-related recommendations.
Conducting ad-hoc research on assessment standards, emission sources, and other issues as they arise.
Contributing to writing white papers and other forms of external communications related to sustainability and climate change.
Contributing to testing new features developed on our online tool for corporate sustainability reporting.
Updating our extensive database of emissions factors and statistical data, including:
Researching and selecting relevant climate change and energy related data;
Putting selected data in appropriate format;
Testing of uploaded factors and data to ensure correct functionality;

Administrative support duties will include:

Overall coordination of administrative processes.
Organizing office lunches and get-togethers.
Other support tasks as needed.
Depending on the aptitudes of the selected candidate, additional tasks may include various marketing support tasks.
Overseeing of day-to-day facility and business needs:
Answering the main line and handling mail;
Ordering office supplies and materials;

The ideal candidate will:

Be a graduate in a field relevant to Ecometrica’s line or work, such as environmental sciences or statistics.
Have a strong interest in environmental sciences or sustainable development matters, and love numbers.
Be extremely attentive to detail and rigorous.
Possess strong research and analytical skills.
Be able to critically appraise the relevance and accuracy of data.
Have experience working in a consultancy position.
Have outstanding multi-tasking and time management skills.
Be a fast learner.
Be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Possess excellent computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with Microsoft Excel.
Have excellent communication skills.
Be fluent in French and English (written and spoken).
Have a strong work ethic.

Conditions:

Position status: Maternity leave cover. Full time, one-year temporary position.
Salary: $35,000 per annum.
Expected start date: 15 April 2015.
