The National Farmers Union

The National Farmers Union is a direct-membership organization made up of Canadian farm families who share common goals. Member families of the Union believe that through an organization that represents all commodities produced in Canada, it is possible to promote the family farm as the most appropriate and efficient means of agricultural production. Our goal is to work together to achieve agricultural policies which will ensure dignity and security of income for farm families while enhancing the land for future generations.

General Manager

The General Manager (GM) will work with the Board and Executive of the National Farmers Union to successfully implement the strategic directives of the membership. The GM will take a leadership role in setting priorities and maximizing effectiveness of the NFU’s resources.

The GM will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the National Office of the NFU and will work in a management role with the Director of Finance and Director of Policy and Research.

The successful candidate will:

possess a genuine interest in farming and food issues;
have experience working with an elected/nonprofit/volunteer board;
understand budgeting and accounting processes;
have experience in managing staff and volunteers;
demonstrate excellent written, verbal and electronic communications;
experience in managing organizational publications;
have experience with day to day operations to ensure board priorities and expectations are met;
be self-directed, creative, enthusiastic and organized.

Proficiency in the French language will be considered an asset

The position is located in Saskatoon, SK at the NFU National Office, and involves occasional travel. For more information about the NFU see http://www.nfu.ca
