POSITION SUMMARY
Ottawa Riverkeeper is seeking a passionate and dynamic Fundraising Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, supervising two fundraising team members, and collaborating with all members of the Ottawa Riverkeeper team, you will be responsible for implementing our annual fundraising plan including: appeals; donor stewardship and communications; grant writing and events (peer-to-peer and third party fundraisers as well as our annual Riverkeeper Gala).
As Fundraising Manager you will serve as a key member of the Ottawa Riverkeeper fundraising team and will play a vital role in helping Ottawa Riverkeeper achieve new growth milestones, and increase our capacity to steward a growing community of donors.
We are seeking a fundraising professional with extensive grant writing experience who understands the importance of demonstrating genuine gratitude and meaningful impact to donors and funders at all levels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Help develop and oversee the implementation of our annual fundraising plan.
Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, donors, and funding partners.
Working in collaboration with members of our fundraising and communications teams, you will lead in the writing and development of regular donor communications including developing content for appeals, thank you letters, impact reporting, and other forms of stewardship.
Lead in the planning and execution of Ottawa Riverkeeper fundraising events (e.g. Riverkeeper Gala, peer-to-peer fundraisers).
Oversee grant writing portfolio including maintaining grant opportunities list, preparing grant application, budgets, grant reports, and maintaining relationships with grant-making agencies.
Research funding opportunities and work closely with Ottawa Riverkeeper program teams to remain informed of funding needs and program activities.
Strategically make use of Ottawa Riverkeeper’s CRM (Salesforce) to monitor and report on progress, as well as customize various documents such as thank you letters, funding proposals, impact reports, and gift agreements.
Implement and monitor policies, procedures, and standards for fundraising and donor relations, including privacy legislation, information management, and donor recognition.
Oversee provision of charitable tax receipts to all qualified donors and ensure compliance with federal regulations.
It is expected that the Fundraising Manager’s scope of work will divided as follows:
40% donor stewardship and cultivation
30% events and corporate sponsorships
30% grant writing and reporting
What you bring
Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising (CFRE an asset)
Minimum 2 years management experience
Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising concepts, methodologies and best practices
A proven track record of securing grants from foundations, corporations and government at the $25,000 level and above
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written).
Bilingualism in English/French is an asset
Strong financial management and budgeting skills
A genuine interest in and support for our cause and a passion for environmental issues
Proficiency with donor CRMs; Salesforce experience an asset
Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)
Motivated and creative with a strong work ethic, professional integrity, and a team player
Flexibility to work some evenings/weekends as required
