Food Rescue Driver – Food Stash Foundation – Vancouver

Position Overview
Type: Permanent, Part-Time
Headquarters: YVR Prep, 5279 Still Creek Avenue, Burnaby, BC
Schedule: Monday-Friday with possibility of additional shifts (20-30 hours/week)
Compensation: Starting at $18/hour (extended health benefits available)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Reporting to the Logistics Team Lead, the Food Rescue Driver is responsible for picking up rescued food from food suppliers and delivering food to our food recipient charities around the Vancouver area. This position will be an Ambassador for Food Stash as they operate out in the community on a regular basis and become a familiar face that our partners welcome and rely on!

You have excellent communication skills and are a whiz with a smartphone
Valid BC Driver’s License and can comfortably lift up to 50lb or more

Required Experience:
Highschool diploma or equivalent experience
1+ years’ professional experience in a similar capacity, preferred
Experience working with vulnerable populations, an asset
Non-profit and/or charity sector experience, an asset
Valid BC Driver’s License, required
Employment offer is conditional upon satisfactory driving record and criminal record check

Knowledge required to perform duties:
Must be proficient with regular use of email, text, smartphone and/or Iphone and apps
Safe and responsible driving practices
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Primary Duties
Travel to pick-up and delivery locations including but not limited to; grocery stores, local non-profit charities, YVR Prep warehouse
Communicate with partners and members of the public in a kind and empathetic manner, aligned with the values of Food Stash Foundation
Ensure food is stored at YVR Prep in a timely and organized manner
Communicates with Logistics Team Lead to ensure daily routes are confirmed and completed and address any issues or problems arise while completing their route and/or duties
Liaises with Program Coordinator to ensure warehouse storage is kept organized, cleaned, and up to standards
Submits number of working hours to Team Lead on a weekly basis using the app or other technology as recommended by Food Stash
Submits data tracking to record quantities of food for analytical purposes
Note: This job may require additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by Food Stash Foundation
