The Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department services the communities of Armstrong (urban) and Spallumcheen (rural) which are located in the beautiful North Okanagan valley.
With a combined population of approximately 10,000, we are only 15 minutes north of the City of Vernon on Highway 97A. Our location allows for a quality lifestyle with access to many amenities.
We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team in the capacity of Fire Prevention Officer to work within our volunteer department of approximately 36 firefighters.
As an employee of the City of Armstrong, this exempt position is full-time temporary position for a 2 year fixed term and includes a comprehensive benefits package and competitive salary that is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Fire Prevention Officer reports to the Fire Chief and is responsible for carrying out routine inspections of public building and premises to ensure compliance with the British Columbia Fire Code and Municipal Fire Prevention Bylaw. This position is operational and will be expected to respond to emergency calls as well as conduct fire inspections and review fire safety plans.
The position will be of interest to a fire professional who has proven leadership abilities, effective communication and public relation skills. We are seeking a candidate with a minimum of 3 years firefighting experience along with certification as a Fire Inspector and Fire Investigator.
