Job Specifications:
Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, plastics, and other materials
Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
Knowledge/Abilities:
Must possess knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in both rough and finished carpentry in both residential and commercial/industrial settings.
Must adhere to applicable building and safety code requirements; methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment.
Must possess the ability to read and decipher blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
Must possess the physical strength/dexterity to perform duties that require heavy lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking.
Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades.
Must be willing to maintain education about different methods of production in trade as well as keeping current with new methods of production.
Experience: 2+ years working as a Finishing Carpenter
Education: Completion of secondary school . Must be functionally fluent in verbal English communication skills. Fluency in Portuguese is an asset.
Location: This position will be located in Toronto. Transport to job sites not provided.
Salary: $22/hr.
