Finance and Business Development Officer – Ha’oom Fisheries Society – Vancouver

About the Role
The Finance Manager is an exciting new role within the Ha’oom Society. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Financial Manager is responsible for directing, overseeing and managing financial, administrative and advisory services for Ha’oom Fisheries Society. The work requires strategic direction, leadership and innovation, and supports the enhancement and fiscal accountability related to the Nation’s rights-based commercial fisheries program. The Finance Manager will help shape our emerging organization, lead the financial administration of the fisheries program, act as an architect in the development of the Ha’oom Society’s business development, including the future development of a financial Trust and/or future corporate entity.

Role Qualifications
Undergraduate Finance/Accounting degree with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce, management or economics; or Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
Experience working within a First Nations organization.
Experience working in the Not For Profit Sector.
Experience in the preparation of internal financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
Experience with budgets, forecasting and variance modelling.
Experience with financial statement preparation (accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll and reporting).
Experience with data entry, record keeping and computer systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, (Excel and Word) and Accounting systems (Sage 50).
Experience in reporting and compliance with government agencies (such as Government Contribution Agreements, WCB, Pension,etc.).
Excellent communications skills with external service providers such as bankers, auditors, Government agencies.
Strong interpersonal skills including ability to work in a team environment.
Effective and skilled at oral and written communication.
Analytical ability.
Follows through on commitments.

Role Requirements
A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
