Job SUMMARY
Sunrise Floral is seeking a motivated single person to maintain our sunflower field during the summer, in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada for the late spring and summer of 2020. Being able to work with a team, as well as individually, is important. We are looking for someone who also enjoys working outside, and can remain task oriented. The Field Manager is responsible for planting, cultivating, and harvesting the field of sunflowers, as well as overseeing the field workers productivity. The contract period will commence May 1st, 2020 and will conclude in early October 1st, 2020.
REQUIREMENTS
Although no experience is required the individual will need to be motivated and have good time management skills. Work hours may vary and working outdoors is required and must be able to stand and bend for extended periods of time. Applicants need to be able to complete some physically demanding tasks.
The hourly wage is $13.85, however lodging and utilities are provided, making the cost of living inexpensive.
The living area is a fully self-contained 5th Wheel trailer with all the amenities.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Training and ongoing development of the field workers.
Reporting improper behavior of the field workers and issuing disciplinary action when necessary within management’s approval.
Prepare the field for planting and planting the field
Suggesting new and innovative problem solving ideas.
Create and organize the field workers schedules in accordance with the work demand and provincial standards.
Implement safety standards among field workers.
Ensure all working hours are being properly tracked and documented.
Oversee the Installation of netting, risers and irrigation system for the field and maintain these systems throughout the growing season and harvest.
Water, support, and weed the field.
Inspect the field daily and address concerns as they arise.
Organize and maintain the tools and equipment used for the job.
Maintain a safe and organized work area.
Oversee harvesting the field and assist everyday during sunflower harvest
Cut, bunch, sleeve, and store the products.
Lawn maintenance in the rear of the property.
Oversee the weeding of flower beds and the driveway when required.
Train new field hands when necessary or applicable.
Communicate with Assembly Manager and Owner about daily quotas.
Maintain the Flower Count log.
Various work around the property as requested by Owner
Execute the disassembly of the netting, risers and irrigation system for the field, organize and store them.
