External Director – DSU Sustainability Office – Halifax, Nova Scotia

QUALIFICATIONS:

Be self-directed and have the ability to work independently
Demonstrated experience leading environmental initiatives
Excellent teamwork and the ability to work successfully with others
Experience leading groups and organizing volunteers
Possess excellent teamwork skills and have the ability to work cooperatively with others
Interest in growing a culture of sustainability within the Dalhousie community

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for university and community outreach (e.g. partnerships with the Ecology Action Centre, Office of Sustainability, Dalhousie Community Garden, other universities, etc.)
Work alongside the Internal Director and the Board of Directors to plan events on and off campus, including Green Week, O-Week, and the Green Gala.
Co-facilitate the DSUSO Board of Directors meetings with the lnternal Director
Responsible for completing DSU society training, understanding DSU policies, and engaging with candidates during DSU elections
Coordinate and recruit volunteers for tabling, events, etc. (e.g., society fair)
Alongside the Internal Director, coordinate hiring for all DSUSO commissioner positions (e.g. Green Week, Green Gala)
Take on new initiatives and/or issue-based campaigns as they come up or are put forth by the Board of Directors

This is a paid position (30 weeks @ $15/hour, 15 hours a week) starting August 1, 2015 and ending no later than April 30, 2016
