Volunteer Toronto (VT) is charitable organization committed to supporting, enabling and celebrating volunteering in the City of Toronto. VT is Canada’s largest volunteer centre with over 40 years of experience connecting volunteers to the organizations that need them. Our services empower local volunteers to find opportunities that make a positive difference in their community. Through in-person and online training, we also educate and help non-profit organizations and community groups run successful volunteer programs.
Our core service areas include:
Supporting organizations in adopting best practices in volunteer engagement through specialized training, resources and advice;
Helping individuals find suitable volunteer positions with the aid of online resources, referral services and public awareness initiatives; and
Working collaboratively with community and corporate partners to conduct research, share information and identify opportunities in the volunteer sector.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership of the organization including developing and implementing plans and initiatives that support and advance the strategic directions and governance policies established by the Board. Lead the organization to identify and implement change to improve VT’s effectiveness and build on past success and realize its full potential. Utilize your passionate leadership, sense of urgency and good judgement to generate innovative approaches and engage the staff to deliver the highest calibre of volunteer related programs. Key first year objectives include enhancing VT’s public profile and broadening the revenue base.
Creative and innovative, you possess a proven record of inspiring others to strive for excellence and are known for your capacity to motivate, mentor and lead with respect, honesty and fairness. You have experience managing and leading change, building high performance teams and bringing strategy and service delivery together. You are a consummate relationship builder and a strategic communicator and you inspire a shared vision and drive for results in a climate of accountability.
You are an executive in a multi-stakeholder organization or association and are an accomplished and experienced innovative leader. You are a gifted communicator and relationship builder who can inspire people across various disciplines and sectors to work together.
