Executive Director – PacificSport Columbia Basin – Castlegar, BC

SUMMARY

PacificSport Columbia Basin is seeking a dedicated, experienced not-for-profit leader, to fulfill the new full-time position of Executive Director. We are looking for an individual with the vision and skills to build and expand the organizational services and who is passionate about developing opportunities for sport and physical activity in the Columbia Basin. The Executive Director provides strategic planning, direction, and professional advisement to the Board of Directors; as well as ensures the smooth functioning and operations of our services.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Strategic Planning and Operations:

Oversees the development of the strategic plan for the organization.
Leads the development and implementation of an operational plan which incorporates the goals and objectives of the organization’s strategic direction.
Develops, implements and evaluates programs and initiatives in support of sport and physical activity in the Columbia Basin.
Oversees the financial management of the organization including the preparation and reporting of a minimum annual budget of $190,000.
Oversees the day to day operations of all programs.
Provides leadership and guidance for staff positions (full time, part-time and contract).
Prepares and organizes all Board meeting activities (minutes, board packages and correspondence).

2. Relationship Management:

Develops and maintains strategic partnerships and networks.

3. Other:

Performs other related duties as required.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

A graduate degree or professional degree or equivalent with 5+ years of experience in sport and/or community recreation administration/management with a progressive increase in responsibilities, or a combination of education and experience.
An understanding of the statutory obligations of incorporated societies in British Columbia.
An understanding of non-profit governance and experience working with a volunteer board of directors.
Experience working with, and in, international, national and provincial sport delivery systems.
Experience in, and working with, national, provincial and regional high performance sport systems.
Familiarity with all elements of long-term athlete development and coach development.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Detail and service-oriented with the ability to listen, understand and respond to stakeholder needs.
Excellent skills in the principles and practices of not for profit organization management, including strategic planning, human resource management, contract management & administration, financial and budget management, program development and implementation and Board of Directors support services, etc.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally.
Ability to exercise a professional manner, initiative, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with a wide range of contacts.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Sound level of computer literacy.
Ability to travel frequently.
Must reside or be willing to relocate to the Columbia Basin.

The salary range for this position is $60,000-72,000 and is commensurate with experience. Benefits are negotiable.
