Working with private and public sector partners, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and direction for the delivery of programs to achieve safer road transportation in Ontario and, to drive business transformation and change management. You are customer service driven in all aspects of business and can establish strong partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders to lead, procure, deliver and measure the Ministry’s road user safety modernization of its driver and vehicle systems.
What can I expect to do in this role?
In this key executive leadership role, this position will be responsible for:
Providing executive leadership and direction for the development of strategic and operational planning and priority setting for a range of road user safety initiatives.
Directing the issues of highway safety in Ontario through the development, enforcement and administration of provincial legislation, regulations, ministry policies, standards and a broad range of programs which further the safe transit of people and goods.
Providing strategic advice and expertise to the Minister, Deputy Minister and Assistant Deputy Minister on contentious road safety issues and implications.
Building strong networks and partnerships with a range of internal and external partners and stakeholders.
Leading discussions regarding best practices and strategic approaches to policy and program issues and obtaining consensus and support for provincial issues.
Leading the adoption of cooperative efforts and information/cost sharing arrangements that meet the needs of all affected parties.
Promoting and fostering a positive, healthy and productive environment where proactive communications are necessary to function effectively while focussing on quality assurance, acquisition management, performance management and performance indicators.
Representing the provincial government and its interests at a variety of public speaking engagements and participation on national and international policy groups.

You have demonstrated a high degree of political acuity to anticipate and respond to politically sensitive situations.
You have flexibility and resilience to adapt in a changing environment.
You can establish effective relationships with senior ministry officials to assist government in setting priorities and undertake long term planning.
