The Nunavut Municipal Training Organization (MTO) is a non-profit society responsible for providing professional development courses and training programs to all municipal staff with Nunavut’s 25 municipalities.
Under the authority of the MTO Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization including the identification of municipal training needs, development of programs to meet those needs, management of all financial operations, preparation of financial statements and the implementation of all MTO programs and projects.
Applications should clearly identify how the candidate meets the following criteria:
EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years of experience in a senior management role
Seven (7) years of experience within a formal education system such as a College or School Board, with special consideration given to those candidates with experience working with adult education or training
Experience leading projects in a non-profit organization setting
Experience developing and implementing strategic goals, programs and/or services in a culturally diverse environment
Experience undertaking research initiatives (inclusive of guiding research teams) that are likely to have larger organization-wide implications
Experience managing a large budget, as well as the preparation of financial statements
Experience working under a Board of Directors
EDUCATION
A graduate degree in Education, Public Administration, Recreation, Business Administration or a related field; or
An undergraduate degree in Education, Public Administration, Recreation, Business Administration in combination with four (4) additional years of experience within a formal educational system or in a municipal government will be considered as an equivalency to the education criteria
Please NOTE:
This is an executive level position requiring demonstrated practical and conceptual abilities in financial management, organizational management, project management, curriculum development, delivery of training programs and municipal government. The position also requires advanced writing and software skills.
The successful candidate will be required to submit a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
