SALARY:     Commensurate with experience. Minimum starting at $43,280

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Operations/CAO (“CAO”), the primary responsibilities of this position include providing administrative and strategic support to the CAO. This position requires a high level of discretion and confidentiality, sound judgment, diplomacy, superior organizational skills and an in depth understanding of WFN’s strategic priorities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

OPERATIONS

Supports the CAO with the management and reporting of WFN operations through liaison with department Directors and Managers
Supports the CAO with the coordination, research, analysis, and preparation of reports as required
Liaises and collaborates with departmental Directors and Managers for the implementation of WFN Council policy decisions as required
Assists the CAO with the development, implementation and reporting of the WFN Strategic Plan

ADMINISTRATION

Prepares correspondence, reports and other necessary documentation as required
Undertakes research projects and coordinates special projects
Responds to internal and external inquiries by serving as the primary point of contact to the office of the CAO
Coordinates scheduling requirements for the CAO including management meetings, internal and external meetings, speaking engagements and conferences as required
Acts as liaison between Department Manager/Director’s and the office of the CAO
Ensures records management maintenance and integrity in collaboration with the Records Management department
Attends senior management meetings as required
Provides assistance to the CAO during the WFN annual budget review process

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Degree or diploma or demonstrably equivalent training and skill in public administration, local government, communications, business administration, legal services or related field of study
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a high level administrative position and/or comparable managerial experience, preferably in a local government or First Nation setting
Superior organizational skills including meticulous attention to detail and the ability to regularly anticipate and coordinate multiple tasks on behalf of the CAO
The ability to consistently conduct oneself with tact and discretion in all matters relating to the office of the CAO
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Professional client services skills
The ability to identify, maintain and protect the integrity of confidential information
Advanced computer software skills including a strong working knowledge of MS Office Products
Actively seeks to resolve conflict
Criminal Record Check acceptable to WFN in its sole discretion
