Event Planner – Tourism Industry Association of Ontario – Toronto, ON

The Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) is the industry’s recognized umbrella organization.  TIAO’s primary role is to be the voice of the industry to government.  In addition, TIAO hosts a number of events every year that promote education and networking opportunities for industry leaders.

At this time, we are seeking a responsive, cooperative and enthusiastic team player to work with us in an event planning capacity.  Someone who is eager to learn, demonstrates creativity, and enjoys working on a small but dynamic team.

Duties

The Event Planner is responsible for elements of the organization’s events including: event design, event logistics, proposals, audio/visual, food & beverage, travel, registration, event staff, production, post event evaluations, for a variety of events including conferences, trade shows, special events, and road shows.

The position will require building strong relationships with partners, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

As with any not-for-profit organization, all team members wear several hats…this means that in addition to event planning, you will have the opportunity to assist your team members and contribute to the organization in other ways.

Qualifications & Attributes:

1-3 years experience with business related meetings/events
Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in an event related field
Ability to make delegates, members and vendors feel welcomed
Strong organizational, communication and follow-up skills
Professional appearance and attitude when working with industry stakeholders and members of the public service
High level of personal integrity, honesty and dependability
Ability to multi-task while maintaining a keen eye for detail
