Environmental Education Outreach Programmer – Camp Kawartha – Ontario

Duties include:
To assist our camp staff in developing environmental programming resources, activities and displays for Camp Kawartha’s environmental programming.
Using unique natural features as an integral part of each program
Using experiential and interactive strategies to promote awareness and appreciation for habitats and communities.
Utilize Camp Kawartha’s Stewardship framework as a way to teach children about environmental issues.
Assist in developing environmental leadership opportunities.
To develop an interactive nature displays, exhibits and playscapes that will allow students to experience the natural world in an engaging and creative manner.
In addition, the Environmental Education Assistant will be responsible for:
Promoting sustainable living awareness, water conservation, recycling and energy conservation.
Using the unique features of Camp Kawartha’s Environment Centre as a teaching tool.
Assist in managing equipment and educational props.
Assist in preparing and maintaining the gardens and arboretum (watering, weeding and harvesting).
The Environmental Education Assistant will also:
Assist in preparing a complete report at the end of summer including recommendations for future programming.

Qualifications & Abilities
A strong interest is stewardship and environmentalism
Able to develop resources which will inspire colleagues and students to become positive stewards.
Proven ability to organize, deal with logistics and complexity
Exhibits a high degree of initiative and self-direction; good analytical, organizational and high level of oral and written communication skills
Computer skills including word processing and data management Education:
High School/College or University graduate in a related field.

Requirements:
Must have clear criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check
