Environmental Education Engagement Manager – GreenLearning Canada Foundation – Toronto

Job Summary
GreenLearning is a young and rapidly evolving organization searching for an Engagement Manager. As our Engagement Manager, you will have the chance to learn from and shape the future of a growing organization, and have an impact on the educators and youth that we support.
Reporting to the Program Director, the Engagement Manager will lead the growth and impact of GreenLearning’s programs across Canada.
You will lead outreach to educators, manage local relationships with school boards/districts and trustees, create and manage local events, and lead GreenLearning’s presence at conferences and workshops.
Your energy, enthusiasm and creativity lend well to GreenLearning’s small team, who believe that flexibility, an enterprising spirit, and positive outlook contribute to enabling us to consistently innovate in the area of sustainability education. The Engagement Manager’s main focus will be to expand the audience using GreenLearning’s innovative education programs, and nurture partnerships with school boards/districts and non profits to further our goals.
The preferred location is Ontario and the position is a full-time position.

Responsibilities
Outreach and engagement: Foster positive relationships with our audience as their primary point of contact, help educators implement projects effectively, support educators to engage students in action challenges and submit completed actions as part of GreenLearning’s Challenges.
Manage GreenLearning’s Challenges including supporting teachers, coordinating judges, collecting submissions and working with the Communications Team to collect stories.
Promotion and marketing of programs: Identify venues and channels in which GreenLearning can engage educators, participate actively in these opportunities.
Work with partners, school boards and others to identify areas for cross-promotion and supporting each other’s work.
Create and manage events: Lead the development of community based events and other types of small local activities to support the entire school community in GreenLearning programs.
Lead presence in virtual and in person workshops, conferences, presentations: Identify and prioritize opportunities to present GreenLearning to a wider audience, and lead those presentations. Utilize GreenLearning’s digital tools to coordinate registrations and feedback.
Lead monthly engagement newsletters: Work with GreenLearning’s Communications team to develop monthly engagement newsletters for educators participating in each of GreenLearning’s programs.
Reporting: Collect visual, quantitative and qualitative evidence of the impact of GreenLearning programs in schools and their communities, assist and support our audience to report data on their impact.
Provide support and feedback on program development content
Manage any resources/materials for engagement (e.g. kits)
Other duties as assigned.
Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

Characteristics
Ability to work in a non-traditional (mainly virtual) environment, flexible, adaptable, self-driven and organized
Strong, proven ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
Very skilled in developing and delivering both virtual and in person presentations
Strong data collecting skills
Ability to think critically and act professionally at all times
Excellent written and oral communication
Ability to review, synthesize information and produce appropriate written content
A positive attitude

Qualifications
Experience working with educators, and an understanding of teacher’s needs and challenges
An ability to engage young people
Previous outreach/engagement experience is an asset
Proven computer skills and familiarity with social media tools in a professional environment
A post-secondary degree in a related field
A post-secondary degree in education is an asset
Bilingualism is also an asset
A demonstrated commitment to issues of sustainability
Compelling volunteer experiences
Having a valid driver’s license and your own vehicle is an asset as some travel is required
