The Engineering Program Manager, Vice President (NOC 0211) is responsible for leadership, direction, management, and performance of Burns & McDonnell Canada. Reporting to the President of Burns & McDonnell Global, the incumbent executes Project Management, Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management of Electric Utility Infrastructure Projects (Transmission Lines and Substations). This includes supporting and executing business strategy, developing high performance teams, and promoting the Burns & McDonnell culture, values, and mission. The incumbent will support practice growth in a dynamic and profitable manner based on Burns & McDonnell’s core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety, and overall outstanding service.

Main responsibilities/duties include:
Managing Department Managers, technical experts, and support personnel
Providing leadership to the team; directing and coordinating activities of several disciplines.
Developing and executing Transmission & Distribution (T&D) engineering projects, as well as office strategies and goals.
Communicating and implementing policies, purposes, and goals of department.
Developing marketing strategies and pricing strategies, and sales and customer retention strategies; initiating or assisting in proposal development and contract negotiations.
Serving as technical advisor.
Maintaining and advancing internal relationships.
Supporting initiatives for sales, revenue and income goals for the office, and achieving stated targets and standards for financial performance.
Managing office budgets.
Career coaching, leadership planning and development, and the planning and delivery of training and education.
Recruiting, hiring, developing and retaining outstanding staff
Conducting performance evaluation for selected department/direct reports.
Ensuring that tools and resources are distributed effectively and efficiently across all departments.
Reviewing resource requirements with Department and Section Managers and helping to obtain necessary resources.
Job duties include 30percent travel to job sites or other offices.

Skills/Work/Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university program;
Minimum 15 years related professional engineering experience in T&D projects, required;
Must have 5+ years with transmission and substation engineering design;
Either provincial or state professional engineering license required;
Must have experience in the design, operation and maintenance of T&D facility equipment such as HVDC, synchronous condensers, transformers, remedial action/special protection schemes, etc., operating at voltages up to 500kV AC/DC;
Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change;
Candidates must possess strong design skills and a strategic perspective; and
Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
