The RDCK is seeking applications for the Emergency Program Supervisor position, based in Nelson, BC. After significant review this newly reclassified position now acts in a dual supervisory and operational role working closely with Emergency Program staff to deliver coordinated emergency preparedness, response and recovery programs and services throughout the RDCK. This is a full time benefitted position and requires the successful candidate to participate in the RDCK On-Call program.
Key responsibilities include:
Leads in the development and implementation of Regional District’s Emergency Program through leadership, allocating project work, supervision of staff, monitoring progress and ensuring compliance.
Oversees Emergency Program Coordinator (EPC) projects and work activities and allocates work to staff to promote coordinated service provision across the Regional District
Responsible for all EPC duties associated with Nelson and surrounding electoral areas
Participation in Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) activities as required
Supervises Emergency Management staff including satellite EPCs
To be considered for the Emergency Program Supervisor role, candidates will possess:
Certificate in Emergency Management
5 years experience in an Emergency Management environment, including supervisory experience
An equivalent combination of work experience and qualifications may be considered for this position
Considerable, demonstrable knowledge of emergency programs and systems
Professional communication skills with the ability to network and build relationships with key stakeholders
Demonstrated competency in project management, risk assessment and risk management
Ability to work extended hours under stressful/emergency conditions
Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License, satisfactory Driver’s Abstract and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
