Join the Peace River Regional District team in the mighty Peace Region of northeastern BC – world renowned for our friendly people, spectacular outdoor recreation and linkages to the Yukon and Alaska. The Peace River Regional District includes four electoral areas and seven member municipalities, with a total population of approximately 66,500 covering a vast 120,000 square kilometers.
The Regional District is seeking an energetic and qualified individual for the new position of Electoral Area Manager to work out of our Dawson Creek or Fort St John office. Reporting to the Regional District’s General Manager of Community Services the Electoral Area Manager is responsible for:
providing senior level administrative support and advice to the Peace River Regional District’s four electoral area directors including assisting with research, coordinating meetings and activities and acting as a liaison with other agencies on behalf of the electoral area directors;
leading the delivery and management of rural community development initiatives under the direction of the electoral area directors;
coordinating the Electoral Area Directors Committee (EADC) and Rural Budgets Administration Committee (RBAC) meetings attending in the capacity of staff liaison and assisting with the formulation of recommendations to the Board where necessary.
The Electoral Area Manager will play a fundamental role in developing, recommending and implementing plans, policies and programs in addition to preparing and monitoring annual budgets. The ideal candidate will have superior ability to communicate effectively while also establishing and maintaining effective and collaborative relationships with volunteers, Regional District staff, elected officials, and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education in public administration or business administration supplemented by training in community development, plus a minimum five (5) years increasingly responsible related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation as it applies to Electoral Area administration particularly the Local Government Act and Community Charter with a strong understanding of governance structure in regional districts. Background or interest in agriculture is an asset.
The applicant will be asked to provide a criminal record check and a Class 5, BC Driver’s License abstract.
