Bon Accord is a rural community with tremendous growth potential; located in the center of Sturgeon County – 20 minutes from three major centers (Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan and St. Albert). The Town of Bon Accord is seeking a qualified Economic Development Manager; reporting to the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer.
The position is a member of the Administration Management Team who maintains knowledge and competency regarding the duties related to development and implementation of an economic strategy that retains, attracts and grows business investment. Furthermore, the position is responsible for the promotion of tourism and brand through effective communication and interaction with existing and new businesses, inter-municipal entities, and industry organizations.
More specifically, the successful candidate will:
Develop and oversee business communication and marketing activities, ensure effective communication channels, and promotional strategies building on brand for both near and long term growth
Represent the Town or lead various regional and local working groups, committees, boards and industry forums related to business attraction, retention and investment within the community across multiple sectors
Be the primary point of contact and oversee the contractual relationship with the Towns planner and development authority
Establish partnerships and or collaborate with local and regional partners for promotion of the Town of Bon Accord as a destination for business development, tourism activities, and tourism development
In concert with the Town lawyers and engineers, respond to inquiries from the public, entrepreneurs, developers, and their agents related to business and economic development.
In conjunction with the Towns development authority, utilize the Land Use Bylaw to assist in the processing and facilitation of decisions on development applications
Development and revision of bylaws and conduct reviews and propose modifications of existing municipal policies where necessary
Develop and deliver on a plan that ensure ongoing focus on the Dark Sky Community designation
Qualifications: Post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing and communications, completion of Economic Development Certificate, and three to six years’ experience in business development or marketing.
Please note that candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
The Town of Bon Accord offers a competitive salary depending on experience and qualifications plus an excellent benefit package, this position provides an annual salary range of $65,710 to $85,737. The successful applicant will be required to work a 37.5 hour work week, with some evenings/weekends.
