The Village of Lytton is located at the confluence of the Fraser and Thompson Rivers, earning it a reputation as “Canada’s River Rafting Capital”. The mild climate lends to many outdoor activities, such as gardening, hiking, cycling, white-water rafting, gold-panning, hunting & fishing. The city is approximately a 3-hour scenic drive north of metropolitan Vancouver through the stunningly beautiful Fraser Canyon, or via a 2-hour drive west of the bustling city of Kamloops. While within easy access to these larger centres, Lytton offers the charm of a rural life, with a small professional and business sector that readily provides residents with their day-to-day shopping and service needs. Lytton is home to beautiful and scenic residential areas with spectacular canyon views, ringed by majestic mountains and nestled in the elbow where the two rivers meet.
The Lytton River Festival and the May Day celebrations provide annual cultural events with stellar family-oriented entertainment. The farmers’ market, held weekly in season, attracts tourists and local residents, earning a reputation for offering superb selections of locally grown produce and ready-to-eat treats, as well as locally manufactured goods and crafts. The city and the surrounding communities are home to a vibrant and growing arts community that includes painters, carvers, sculptors, weavers, writers and playwrights. Lytton is also attractive to train enthusiasts, as two railways run near to the village, offering unsurpassed opportunities for trainspotting.
