Over its 50-year history of innovation and dynamic programming, FortWhyte Alive has evolved from a modest ‘nature centre’ into Canada’s preeminent sustainable living education facility. Situated on 640 acres of diverse habitat within Winnipeg, its unprecedented combination of built, natural, and intellectual assets supports a unique offering of leading edge environmental, social enterprise, and active living programs to over 100K visitors annually.
But FortWhyte can and should do more. Never in human history have the environmental and social challenges been greater. Never has the need to equip future generations for sustainable living been more urgent.
FortWhyte is seeking a special, visionary individual with a demonstrated interest in the environment and sustainable living… one with the necessary credibility, passion, leadership, and skill set to help continue its innovation and impact throughout the community and beyond. Experience in fund raising and forging partnerships would be an asset, but only if that experience is steeped in creativity, tenacity, and above all, a track record of success. Exemplary written and oral communication skills are absolute essentials for this challenging and rewarding position.
Working in close collaboration with the President & CEO and Director of Operations, specific duties will include: visioning new growth opportunities that further FortWhyte’s mission; implementing and evaluating programs that support social, environmental, and economic sustainability objectives, developing revenue and partnership strategies; writing compelling funding proposals; and, partner stewardship. Maintaining close involvement with all members of the FortWhyte team and programs will be critical for identifying emerging needs and opportunities.
