Director of Operations – Water First – Ontario

Responsibilities Include:
Managing deliverables associated with multiple projects supported by a broad range of funders
Managing a diverse team of staff with a wide range of skills including water treatment, water quality analysis, fish habitat restoration, education, training, environmental research
Managing multiple project budgets
Reporting to and stewarding relationships with formal funders, donors and First Nations community partners
Public relations, including attending special events and public occasional speaking

Mandatory Requirements:
At least 8-12 years of in-depth non-profit program management experience with varied funders
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
Significant experience writing complex funding proposals
Demonstrated track record of leadership experience
Top notch professionalism, judgement, initiative & tact
Self starter, requiring limited oversight, capable of identifying opportunities, creating strategies and successfully putting plans into action
Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as appropriate
Ability to commute to, or relocate to, the Creemore/Collingwood Ontario region
Regular access to a vehicle and ability to travel to northern First Nations 10 – 15% of the time

Desired Assets:
Academic background: related degree and work experience in one or more of the following fields: water treatment, water engineering, geography, water sampling, hydrology, ecology, fish habitat restoration, environmental remediation
Advanced degree in one of the fields of study above
Experience collaborating with First Nations communities
Experience with capacity building and community development initiatives
