The Director will:
Develop a Communication Strategy to effectively disseminate information to respective audiences (farmers, consumers, government, industry).
Work with program staff and the Executive Director to develop donor/foundation funding proposals as required.
Grow supporter email list through various media and strategies.
Responsible for actively growing social media channels.
Prepare and present reports for COG’s ED and Board on a quarterly basis.
Work with the Board Fundraising Committee as required.
Lead the conducting of proactive research to identify potential grant funding sources form private, corporate, and family foundations.
Work in partnership with the Executive Committee to write compelling cases for support to be used as a template and for specific projects.
Work with volunteers and staff to establish priorities, assist in evaluating program effectiveness, and track projects and deadlines that depend on the participation of multiple stakeholders.
In coordination with the Executive Director, increase awareness of COG programs and their environmental impact through effective, creative, and professional marketing and public relations.
Working with the Executive Director develop and execute a Fundraising Strategy.
Development of marketing promotional strategies and content for COG’s diverse educational resources and services.
Work closely with subject-matter experts, COG staff, and graphic designers in order to write and publish social media, e-news, and web content.
Manage website content (WordPress + Shopify).
Assist with event promotion and coordination as needed.
Essential Qualifications:
Diploma/degree related to Marketing, Communications, Business, or Fundraising.
Experience developing strategic promotional materials and marketing and fundraising campaigns.
Experience with acquisition marketing
Skilled with customer relationship management (CRM) tools to sustain, grow and track audience and membership
Excellent Communicator with a knack for writing, editing and proofreading.
Skills in delivering presentations and sales pitches.
Proven experience using social media tools like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram as well as newsletter tools like MailChimp, on behalf of an organization
Familiarity with web editing and web management tools like WordPress
Strong time and project management skills, with the ability to manage both short and long-term projects.
Able to work as part of a team but also take initiative and a leadership role on projects.
Asset Qualifications:
Experience working with WordPress and Shopify.
Experience organizing and promoting events.
Experience in fundraising and/or sales.
Basic knowledge of design software (eg Canva, Adobe InDesign)
Experience with designing social media shareables and other graphics
Working with printers and graphic designers
Knowledge of sustainable/ecological agriculture systems.
Demonstrated creativity in previous work experience and/or extracurricular activities.
Fluent in French and English (written and spoken)

Some travel will and overtime will be required
Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Location: Ottawa
Compensation: commensurate with experience.
