Reporting to the Executive Director and working with Neighbour to Neighbour staff and volunteers the Director of Development and Community Relations is responsible for the yearly growth of the fundraising resource to support Neighbour to Neighbour’s work and for the development of communications and community relations strategies to advance the mission of Neighbour to Neighbour. The Director fosters a fundraising environment that is major gift focused, innovative and accountable and a communications environment that celebrates the work of Neighbour to Neighbour and enhances its positive public image. The portfolio is committed to ensuring the community support and engagement is in place to enable and expand Neighbour to Neighbour’s mission.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Creates the yearly fundraising and communications operating plan in conjunction with the Executive Director, senior staff
Serves as the principal development officer responsible for establishing meaningful links with major individual, corporate and foundation prospects.
Cultivates and nurtures relationships with current and potential corporate & foundation sponsors and individual donors.
Makes major gift solicitation calls as required
Is responsible for major and annual giving planning, implementation and reporting.
Is responsible for all donor records, donor stewardship and recognition.
Recruits, trains and motivates a high performing fundraising team.
Brings structure and innovation to the design and implementation of Neighbour to Neighbour fundraising programs.
Provides fundraising training and support to Neighbour to Neighbour’s Board members and staff.
Provides leadership in the development and implementation of communication strategies.
Oversees the development of all promotional materials.
In conjunction with the Executive Director serves as the spokesperson for Neighbour to Neighbour’s fundraising initiatives
Serves as the principle liaison between fundraising and Neighbour to Neighbour’s management group.
Qualifications
Commitment to the N2N mission, vision and values
University Degree, College Diploma or equivalent experience
Minimum 3- 5 years of experience in a communications and or fundraising role
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Leadership experience
Presentation and public speaking skills
