BC Transit is a provincial crown corporation and coordinates the delivery of safe, reliable, cost-efficient and market-focused transit services in British Columbia outside of the Greater Vancouver region. This position is based in Victoria which is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Victoria is an international resort destination with a transportation network that includes airport, helicopter and seaplane services, buses, ferry, and cruise ships.
The Director, Fleet Management is responsible for maximizing value and delivering on BC Transit’s strategic objectives through the effective and efficient management of its fleet assets and associated asset systems, including the associated performance, risks and expenditures over their whole life cycles. Our ideal candidate would possess a university graduate degree in Engineering or Business Administration (or a related discipline) and a minimum of ten years’ related experience in progressively responsible positions. Direct management experience in the field of Asset Management is preferred, with experience leading a multi-disciplinary team within a unionized environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge of the concepts, practices and techniques of Asset Management systems principles (PAS-55, ISO 55001 etc.);
Strategic planning and coordination skills to effectively lead change;
Knowledge of corporate strategies, functions and programs, including experience in writing business cases and performing financial analyses;
Communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain key effective internal and external relationships with Executive, government partners, manufacturers, and industry associations;
Strong writing skills; and,
People leadership skills to coach a team of reporting professionals and support employees.
