Development Manager – Toronto Environmental Alliance – Toronto

The Position:
TEA is looking for a Development Manager who is passionate about environmental issues, and who wants to be part of a small, collaborative and fun team. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and has enthusiasm for engaging the public to make meaningful change happen in our communities and city.
The Development Manager will lead the development and execution of a sustainable, diversified annual fundraising program to build support for TEA’s mission. Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will work with a dedicated team and leverage a significant base of passionate supporters who share our commitment to building a greener city for all.

Responsibilities:
Develop and execute an integrated fundraising strategy including direct response (telemarketing, e-fundraising and direct mail), major gifts, and foundations.
Develop annual fundraising targets and provide routine monitoring and reporting on progress to senior management.
Prepare and present fundraising research, analysis and reports on specific areas of the fundraising strategy.
Develop strategies to retain and grow TEA’s base of monthly supporters through acquisition, conversion and stewardship.
Build strong relationships with individual TEA donors through responsive communications and regular stewardship touchpoints.
Contribute to the development of donor communications materials, including the annual report, sponsorship decks, direct mail and email solicitations.
Collaborate with team members on the development of strategies to build and measure supporter and donor engagement through TEA’s platforms.
Work with other team members to ensure proper management of donor records, ensuring high standards of accuracy and safeguarding of data.
Lead the coordination of TEA’s annual fundraising event, the Greener City Celebration.
Ensure all fundraising efforts reflect TEA’s commitment to equity and environmental justice, and adhere to relevant legislative and ethical requirements in the administration, processing, and management of donations.
Manage external contractors as required.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Passion for TEA’s mission to build a greener, more equitable city
Relevant experience with a minimum of 3-5 years raising funds in the non-profit sector; experience fundraising for environmental organizations is an asset
Experience with a range of fundraising revenue streams, including monthly giving, digital appeals, grants and major donors
Experience with fundraising databases; Nationbuilder experience is an asset
Strong writing skills and ability to develop compelling and inspiring cases for support
Strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of various fundraising strategies
Highly organized, detail oriented, with strong project management skills; events coordination experience is an asset
Highly collaborative and able to work across all levels of the organization
Foundation proposal writing experience a strong asset
Post-secondary education or a suitable combination of experience and education
Understanding of regulations governing fundraising and communications activities for not-for-profit organizations in Canada

Terms of Employment:
This is a full-time permanent position. Compensation is $62,000 per year with annual increases. TEA offers health benefits and generous vacation provisions.
The Development Manager may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends.
Currently, hybrid arrangements are in place and staff are required to attend the office one day per week. The position-holder is required to reside within the Greater Toronto Area.
