Development / Engagement Manager – Niagara Sustainability Initiative – Niagara Region, Ontario

Purpose:

The Development & Engagement Manager will work closely with Executive Director to complete a strategic plan and implementation program for new and existing programs at Niagara Sustainability Initiative (NSI). The Development Manager will gather feedback from existing Carbon Project Members and engage with new organizations to support the growth and commitment of sustainability for the organizational community in Niagara. The ultimate goal will be to increase NSI’s presence, set out a strategic direction for growth, and increase the financial sustainability while working towards greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions committed to being reduced.

Responsibilities:

The Development & Engagement will lead the above-mentioned areas reporting to the Executive Director and is supported by high-performing volunteers.

Strategic Planning

Development and implementation of a two year strategic plan that will set out the direction for growing the Carbon Project while also finding new programs to lead.
Present proposed strategic direction to the Board of Directors and work with the Executive Director for guidance on the implementation.
Set out an action plan with milestone and evaluations on a quarterly basis.
Monitor key metrics related to the strategic plan.
Report on progress made to Board of Directors.

Carbon Project Program Improvements

Review & evaluation of the current Carbon Project Framework and find opportunities for improvements including: Fee Structure, on-boarding process, milestone process, conversion, and retention strategy.
Provide recommendations for improving the brand awareness of the Carbon Project including finding new and creative ways to engage local organizations on organizational sustainability.
Find opportunities to increase the support for Carbon Project members including surveys, supporting documents, white paper resources, and policy documents.

Growing the Carbon Project

Working with the Executive Director and Member Development volunteer team to increase membership growth.
Support lead generation through research, networking opportunities, and finding strategic partnership opportunities.

New Program Development

Research and investigate new program opportunities that support NSI’s mission and vision.

Communications Management

Works with NSI’s communications team to manage on-going marketing and communications efforts across print, radio, television, online, and in-person channels.
Supports the organization’s presence at various community events, in conjunction with the marketing functional area.

Skills and Qualifications:

University degree in a related field.
A self-starter that thrives by taking on a variety of roles and enjoys tasks ranging from creation to implementation.
Highly organized with demonstrated project management skills and attention to detail.
Able to work in both individual and group settings with limited supervision.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a fast-paced and continually evolving environment.
Proven leadership abilities and multitasking capabilities.
Passion for community-led sustainability leadership.
