OVERVIEW
Long Point Basin Land Trust (LPBLT) is a charitable non-government organization with a mission to protect and restore functioning ecosystems in the heart of the Carolinian region. LPBLT promotes conservation through land securement, outreach, research, habitat restoration and species at risk recovery. By engaging and retaining the support of the Long Point Basin community, we ensure that these lands will be cared for in perpetuity.
Our successes to date have been achieved through the work of our dedicated volunteers and a growing community of supporters, assisted by a small staff. We are now seeking a skilled and effective individual who will enthusiastically engage in the work of LPBLT. Collaborating with the Projects Manager and Board of Directors, the Development Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing communications and fundraising strategies to grow the capacity of the organization.
LOCATION
The position is based at LPBLT’s office in Port Rowan, Ontario but will allow for working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. It will require travel across the Long Point Basin.
TERM AND SALARY
This position is compensated at $50,000 to 55,000 per annum, subject to experience, based on a regular workweek of 37.5 hours, plus mandatory government benefits. Evenings and weekends will occasionally be required. It is offered initially as a 1-year term, contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued availability of funding.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications plan including crafting key messaging and methods for measuring results for each target audience; timetable of initiatives; development and execution of a media strategy; and, updates to website.
Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive plan for fundraising and donor engagement to grow the capacity of LPBLT and ensure a healthy ongoing financial support base for the organization. This may include identifying and researching prospects from foundations, corporations and individuals; writing correspondence for the annual direct mail program and capital campaigns; and, developing and implementing a bequest/legacy strategy.
Lead the development and implementation of a social media outreach program to grow our audience and lead to direct conversion of followers to donors.
Provide reports on the progress and results of communications, fundraising and donor engagement strategies and programs, including analysis of processes, results and recommendations for ongoing improvements.
Other related duties as determined by the Projects Manager and Board.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Superior verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking; experience in the development of both print and digital materials
Demonstrated project management skills, excellent organizational skills and effective at managing multiple priorities and deliverables
Strong attention to detail
Demonstrated fundraising experience in a small to mid-sized organization such as managing annual appeals, securing major gifts and legacy giving
Experienced with and knowledgeable of Canada Revenue Agency’s charitable requirements and regulations
Valid Ontario driver’s license with access to a car
Have a working knowledge of technology used to support a revenue generation program including Microsoft Office, online database systems and CRMS
Demonstrated experience using social media and web communication tools
Additional Assets:
Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation an asset
